Why every restaurant needs a magician
When I first decided to become a magician, I started by volunteering in a little cafe in Weston-Super-Mare. It was a place to cut my teeth and home my skills as a performer. At the time, I didn't think too much about it from a business perspective; instead, focusing on my act and how I could personally improve. By talking to the owner, I was a little surprised to learn about the difference it made to his business and customers. I saw first-hand how a magician can impact a restaurant and how to help with the flow of a restaurant seamlessly.
Delays: one of the first things I picked up on was how to help with delays happening with people's food, you would have a family come in and make a big order, and for whatever reason, the food would be taking a long while. Usually, this is frustrating for the family and the staff, but with me there, this became an opportunity. A staff member would let me know about the delay. I would entertain that group while they were waiting for their meal, keeping the adults and children happy rather than annoyed and frustrated from waiting.
Competitive advantage: The restaurant industry can be a very competitive place. You only need to look on google maps to see all the different restaurants and pubs fighting for attention. A restaurant magician is an easy way to give your venue something unique that people haven't seen before. Not only that, but it will also give people a reason to keep coming back to your restaurant and bring their friends along in the future, knowing that your restaurant will provide an experience many other restaurants aren't delivering.
Close-up magic is very popular: because shows like dynamo and Britains got talent. People aren't just aware of magic; they are excited by magic and don't just want to see it on the telly. They want to go out and see it for themselves up close and in person. By advertising that one of the places they can see this is by going to your restaurant on a specific day or at a particular time, they will be excited at the idea of going and will bring more popularity to your restaurant. This is a win-win scenario for both you and your customers, where you get more people coming into the restaurant to enjoy a meal and watch the entertainment. The guests get to see something they have built up in their minds.
It doesn't interrupt the flow of the restaurant: The last point I'll leave you with is that close-up magic is unobtrusive with very little space and without making a big commotion that interrupts anyone else's dining experience as well as making space for the wait staff and anyone else who needs to make their way through the venue. If someone doesn't want to see me performing that night, they won't have to, which means that everyone still gets the dining experience they prefer.
